snowtime-group-imageThis animated anti-war allegory, “Snowtime! is a remake of a famous French Canadian live-action feature, “The Dog Who Stopped the War” (1985). It’s set in an idyllic mountain town where the kids divide into two groups for an epic two-week snowball fight during Christmas break. Even though rival team leaders Sophie (Lucinda Davis) and Luke (Angela Galuppo) share a tentative crush, the battles escalate until there’s a tragedy that inspired the original version’s title. Aimed at very young audiences, the cheerier remake — with voice work by Sandra Oh as the young architect of a snow fort and a song by Céline Dion — is more distinguished by its charming animation than how it handles the storyline.
