Two-day Dogri Seminar concludes

JAMMU: The two-day Dogri Short-Story Seminar, jointly organized by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Post-Graduate Department of Dogri, University of Jammu, concluded.
The remaining two paper reading sessions of the seminar were held today. In these well attended sessions, six papers on various aspects of Dogri Short-Story were presented.
The sessions were presided over by Prof Archana Kesar and Prof Shiv Dev Singh Manhas, respectively of the PG Department of Dogri.
The writers and scholars, who presented their papers, include Ashok Khajuria, Chanchal Bhasin, Sunil Kumar, Raj Rahi, Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ and Jagdeep Dubey.
Various aspects of Dogri Short-Story like Children Short-Stories, the depiction of Dalits & women in the Short-Stories, and criticism of Dogri Short-Story, the Global effects on Dogri Short-Story and criticism of Dogri Short-Story etc., were the focus of these papers.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Prof Lalit Mangotra, Convener, Dogri Advisory Board, expressed his satisfaction over the quality, standard and relevance of all the twelve papers read in the seminar. He said, that the seminar has provided an opportunity to academically assess the status of Dogri Short-Story today and will also give impetus to further evolution of this genre.
After conclusion of the seminar, another literary programme ‘Through My Window’ was held in which renowned Dogri writer Mohan Singh spoke about the life and works of the Legendary Dogri poet Ved Pal ‘Deep.’ Mohan Singh shared many anecdotes concerning the life of ‘Deep’ and highlighted the special aspects of his poetry, which resulted in ‘Deep’ being known as ‘Dogri Ghazal Da Badshah’ (Emperor of Dogri Ghazal).
At the end of the programme, Dr Devender Kumar Davesh, the Officer on Special Duty, Sahitya Akademi presented vote of thanks. Dr. Sandeep Dubey, Asstt. Professor, PG Department of Dogri, conducted proceedings of the programme.
