Rs 37 crore Spice Park to be commissioned soon: Hanjura

Srinagar: While addressing a meeting of all restaurant and hotels owners on promotion of Saffron mission, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi lone Sunday said Spice Park in Kashmir valley will be inaugurated by the end of this month.
Lone was delivering the keynote address at the special meeting on promotion of saffron mission said.
He said Spice Park with the cost of Rs 37 crores will cater the needs of local saffron growers in valley. He at Spice Park testing, quality control, packing and branding of Saffron will be done. The minister said in Kashmir they have high quality of saffron as compared to other parts of the world such Iran and Spain. Hanjura said, these meetings will boost the ideas which will promote quality saffron in valley and meetings will be held in future also.
“We need support of all stakeholders especially DirectorJKTDC (Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development corporation) who will promote saffron product throughout the India as well world in tourism fares (Melas).”Lone said.
Earlier the meeting began with an inaugural speech of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production department Sandeep Kumar Nayak.
He said saffron growers can now sell their saffron through eAuction platform with the guidance of agricultural department.
While replying to the question asking for complete ban on saffron from Iran and Spain, Sandeep said, in modern world they cannot put ban on imported saffron.
Some of speakers said also suggested that they should come up with Saffron special products like Saffron Kehwa, saffron sweets and other related items.
