Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society felicitates position holders, teachers, support staff

JAMMU: St. Peter’s High School Jammu today reverberated with joyous celebrations as the Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society felicitated the position holders of classes X and X11 for the academic year 2017-18 in JKBOSE and CBSE board examinations and also honoured teachers and support staff who rendered 25 years of continuous service in schools owned by the Society.
Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Rajeshwar Singh, AIG (Personnel) PHQ J&K were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira, President of the Society presided over the function.
Welcoming the dignitaries and guests, Rev. Fr. T.S. Jacob, Chairman of Diocese Education Board highlighted the history of missionary endeavor in education in the Jammu and Kashmir that is dated back to the 19th century. The first Catholic School was established in Baramulla in 1905 and since then the Church has been playing a lead role in taking education to the masses.

the demand.Rajeshwar Singh exhorted upon the students to choose studies and careers based on their aptitude and not merely on pressures and pulls from the families. Emphasizing on the commitment, Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira said that the Diocese has truly been a champion of not only educating the children, but also empowering and enriching their lives based on moral values. The top achievers included Pratham Sarngal, S/o Kuldeep Raj Sarngal from Fatima Convent High School, Bishnah and Anuradha Devi, D/o Sansar Singh from Sacred Heart Convent High School, Phinter-Billawar (Kathua) who stood first in the JKBOSE examinations held in March 2018 with 496 marks (99.2%). Contributions of Manmeet Singh, an office staff at St Peter’s High School, BC Road Jammu and Harnam Dass, a supporting staff at Holy Family Convent High School, Nagari-Parole Kathua over 25 years in their respective schools were acknowledge during the Awards Ceremony.
